Suffolk Horses at Gressenhall Farm

THERE ARE FEWER than 400 Suffolk Horses registered in the UK, which makes them an endangered breed, in fact the Rare Breeds Survival Trust place them in the ‘critical’ category, which means they’re rarer than the Giant Panda!

The Museum works the land at Gressenhall with six of these beautiful animals, to show just how important it is that we keep this rare breed alive.  With Remus (on long loan) and the newly acquired Casper, and Trojan, Bowler, Jimbo and Reggie out working almost daily, you can see them all year round – ploughing, harrowing, hoeing and harvesting.
The Friends are there, every step of the way, to support the Museum’s work with the horses.

Heavy Horse Events
throughout the farming season
Heavy Horse Events happen regularly on site throughout the farming season, when other horse breeds can be seen working alongside the Museum’s own Suffolk Horses.

SEE THE SUFFOLKS
Come along and meet the horses, and get to know Remus, Casper, Trojan, Bowler, Jimbo and Reggie.  They are out and about on the farm working most days!
If you’re  really lucky you might find them giving cart rides!
