Come and join in the celebration of May Day, a day of fun and festivities with its origin in ancient times.
The site is brimming with things to see and buy, from homemade sweet treats, to the beautiful designs of Myriad Life photo art. Sit back and enjoy a handmade pie using local produce from Pie Central. With stalls selling fresh produce, crafts and plants, there’s sure to be something for everyone!
Discover the origins of dancing around the May Pole and have a go yourself! Get crafty in Art Attack! and create a May Day crown show off in the Grand Gressenhall Parade. Step in time to the tunes of the Smokehouse Blue Marching Jazz Band.
Be entertained by the lively Morris dancers and don’t forget to be on time for lessons under the beady eye of the Victorian School Master. See an original play 'Keeping the Balance - 300:8' about the life and daily routines of a Workhouse inmate, performed for the first time by UEA drama students.
Meanwhile, spring is in full swing on Gressenhall Farm, from the spring flowers to the new lambs and chicks. Watch the museum’s Suffolk Punches carry out the seasonal tasks in the fields.
